Firefighter Horace Clair Brainard 
March 25,1925
Died from injuries he received while fighting multiple fires caused by arson at 
159 Washington St. The row head floor collapsed pinning the firefighter face down in several inches of water.  All efforts to rescue him failed and he died from a broken neck and drowning.
